Christians and Jews, are not the Sumerian creation story proof of no god?
Wiki even says that this is the oldest known record of any creation story, and it goes like this:
Wiki:
"The Sumerian creation myth, the oldest known, was found on a fragmentary clay tablet known as the "Eridu Genesis", datable to ca. the 18th century BC. It also includes a flood myth.
Where the tablet picks up, the gods An, Enlil, Enki and Ninhursanga create the Sumerians (the "black-headed people") and the animals. Then kings descend from the sky and the first cities are founded – Eridu, Bad-tibira, Larsa, Sippar, and Shuruppak.
After a missing section in the tablet, we learn that the gods have decided to send a flood to destroy humankind. Zi-ud-sura, the king and gudug priest, learns of this. (In the later Akkadian version, Ea, or Enki in Sumerian, the god of the waters, warns the hero (Atra-hasis in this case) and gives him instructions for the ark. This is missing in the Sumerian fragment, but a mention of Enki taking counsel with himself suggests that this is Enki’s role in the Sumerian version as well.)
When the tablet resumes it is describing the flood. A terrible storm rocks the huge boat for seven days and seven nights, then Utu (the Sun god) appears and Zi-ud-sura creates an opening in the boat, prostrates himself, and sacrifices oxen and sheep.
After another break the text resumes, the flood is apparently over, the animals disembark and Zi-ud-sura prostrates himself before An (sky-god) and Enlil (chief of the gods), who give him eternal life and take him to dwell in Dilmun for "preserving the animals and the seed of mankind". The remainder of the poem is lost. "
So since this was found in the 18th century BC, that means that Moses and them copied. Which means that we have been tricked all these years.
So is this not proof of no god?
well, there isn’t "One" God in these other stories, there are always many.
true, now we can have sex whenever.
I don’t know, I can only tell you what Wiki tells me.
you’re a Patriots fan, and we all know that Belichek cheated on the past superbowls.
Except you Pats fans, so see what little proof you need. lol
Or a global flood and its story was so true …. that it was spread much wider than just to Mr. Moses. Did you think a flood that covered the earth would only be known to one man and his family?
Ok. There’s no God. Now you can have sex with whoever you want. Then abort the contents of a womb. Problem resolved.

Don’t forget that Sumerians were the bad guys in "Ghostbusters", too.

Yeah, moses just got a kick out of plagerising, didn’t he.
I think people then had better things to do then copy each others work. And besides, how do we know Moses even possesed such knowledge? We do not.

wiki is not a very reliable source, with that said, it is true that Judaism evolved from the Egyptian religion, just like Christianity evolved from the Judaism. In my opinion, Egyptian religion evolved from pseudo-astronomy (astrology) and astrology evolved from the observations of the sky, and these observations were either true (astronomy) or not (astrology). Astrology is basically the personification and deification of stars and planets, which is why the Egyptians worshiped the Sun which eventually turned into God, and then the Son (sun) of God, and why Roman religions worshiped Jupiter and Mars, etc.

It might suggest that the Bible ripped off the Sumerian creation myth, but it doesn’t prove it. The same thing can be said for the Epic of Gilgamesh and the similarities between the flood story and Noah and the ark. It may just be a coincidence.

It is proof of God. There are creation myths all over the world. All following the basic pattern, man, woman, garden, good. Why is that we must ask? Could it be that there was one God, one who judged the world and then man ( descendants of Noah) spread across the planet. Taking with them the accounts of God and creation.

They will just come out with some ridiculous answer like Lucifer put it there to test their faith. There is no reasoning with the barking mad who refuse to see truth in favor of a giant invisible sky fairy waving its magic wand.
The NT is c90% Mithra Christos scripture, word for word. They still refuse to believe their religion is fabricated.

Is not the fact that the Sumerian civilization is the oldest known one proof of the truth of the creation story in the Bible?
You choose what you believe. To my thinking, other stories of the flood support the Biblical version, not detract. If you wish to believe in the Sumerian gods, feel free.

No, this is not proof of no god. Nice double negative, btw.
You put your faith in one ancient writing and we put our faith in another. The "dating" you subscribe to is suspect as best and therefore, proof of nothing.

No one can prove who copied whom, no offence. Moses was the Jew that wrote it down, but he didn’t come up with it. It was in oral tridition long before he was even born.

maybe the hebrew were liberated by messiah Moses (pbuh) foretold in egyptian religion, like Christian were liberated by messiah Jesus (pbuh) foretold in Israel religion.
Hebrew were in slavery but expected a liberator and looked for him, why? They had no texts until Moses (pbuh) so how they know?

So let me ask you this.
Do you really think this is what Life was meant to be like, or could there be an extremely better way of Life that involves a Divine Guide such as a Creator that has already given us the template for Living abundantly?
Pontiff | Nov 10, 2009
Good grief, is this all it takes to "prove" to you there is no God? Did you ever look at it as proof there is a God? A lot of ancient cultures or religions tell about a flood. Even though these accounts vary it causes me to consider this evidence that there really could have been a flood just like the Bible says. You assume a lot in your weak "evidence". Such amazing faith you have.

It’s very possible that they dated it incorrectly. Also, if something sits in the ground for many years (not necessarily the amount of years you are talking about) it can appear more aged than it actually is.
Hudi | Nov 10, 2009
Sounds like these people recorded God’s creation and flood as actual events but were short of the who was who and used their own gods in stead, by the way how many hundred scripts did you say were found for your proof or was it just one incomplete story?
