Might take a couple of weeks (years?) but it probably could. They’re pretty pissed off most of the time and the whale would have no defense.

No, sperm whales eat giant squid.

No way. Giant squid are one of the favorite food items of sperm whales. Sperm whales often have scars on their bodies from the toothed suckers of giant squid, but these are defensive wounds. The squid didn’t attack the whale.

No, but it can hurt a sperm whale with its suckers.

it’s the other way around – but scars on the sperm whales are testament to the fact that giant squid can defend themselves – perhaps they can tear of chunks of meat and then eat it off of the sperm whale, but then the sperm would just in turn eat them, so it would not be very fruitful

Your dad is right, that would be like a chicken eating an elephant. Whales weigh 50,000 lbs and have skin thicker than the beak of a giant squid. Squid weigh 500lbs. There’s just no contest, it’s just a snack.
