How do you know if you have social anxiety or are just shy?
I mean I’m perfectly capable of having a conversation but 95% of the time just can’t. Like I can’t think of anything beyond one word answers around people.

I have no friends at all anymore.

I sometimes think I’m depressed but then I think never mind I’m just exxagerating and I’d look like an idiot if I did anything about it. I mean it’s not like I’m sitting around being miserable ALL the time. Sometimes when something good happens I’ll be semi-content for a day or two.

Sometimes I want to do something about my situation (been over a year now I think) but I’m too afraid to see anybody about it. My parents just think I’m on drugs (well sometimes i am but it’s not like a hobby or anthing).

I dont know. I doubt I’ll ever do anything and won’t be able to cope in the real world and will end up killing myself (not that I’m suicidal but I dont like where I’m going) but, if i were to do something I wouldn’t want to find out there’s nothign wrong with me and I’m just a whiny crybaby.
oh yeah and I’m NOT some sort of drug user.

just like weed once a month MAYBE, not a regular thing or a problem

Alligator (1980)

IMDB rating: 5.60

Plot: Ramon the alligator is flushed down the toilet as a baby and grows into a gargantuan monster by eating the corpses of laboratory animals who have undergone dubious hormone experiments, thus providing all the ecological and social subtext that one could possibly wish for, even if one doesn’t normally go for films about giant alligators eating people left, right, and center—which is the inevitable and tragic result of Ramon’s decision that the outside world looks rather more interesting than the sewers….

Science Science Science AAAAAAHHHHH?
Okay well I’m working on a science fair project where i will be building a speaker…I bought these bare standardized alligator clips and i don’t know how to connect the wire thingy into it….I dont have a solder gun or whatever it is nor do i have some kinda crimply thing….could someone please help.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should use stranded wire for flexibility. You need to find a neighbor with a soldering iron. Many people have one whether they use it or not.
Strip about 1 inch of insulation off the end of the wire being careful not to cut or nick the wire strands. You can even use a pair of sharp jawed pliers if you gently squeeze the pliers to break just the insulation and then twist the pliers handle to rip off the insulation. Twist the strands clockwise to tighten the bundle of wires. Heat the exposed wire and touch the solder to the wire but not directly to the iron or not exactly where the iron is contacting the wire. Eventually the heated wire will melt and "draw" the solder to form a silver coating on the exposed part of the wire. This is called "tinning" the end of a wire.
Put the tinned end in the aligator clip slot and use a pliers to squeeze the slot so the wire is making a good mechanical and electrical connection to the clip. Heat the clip and wire and apply solder to the wire and clip contact area. Again don’t apply heat directly from the iron to the solder.
Tape the area soldered and about another inch of the wire insulation to insure the soldered joint doesn’t flex too much.

Seeking some critquing for my writing?
This is something I’m currently working on. I personally see potential for it to be actually finished, unlike most of what I write. So I wanted to get some opinions from other writers. I would like to post it on a writers site, but responses is really slow, so I figured a why not use Y!A to get some opinions.

I’m looking for some serious critiquing i.e. do you like it? What about it do you like? If not, what don’t you like. I know the grammar is a bit rough, so maybe less detail on that and more on the story itself. You know plot, characters, atmosphere etc. Does it appeal to you at all?

Thanks

All throughout the New Testament Jesus said he'd return 'soon'?
The Bible is supposed to be the word of God to mankind. That a God would mask and obfuscate what he really means by deceptively giving mankind misleading information doesn’t add one ounce of credibility to the Bible.

Since God, who is supposed to provide humans with reliable information deceives and misleads people by using terms that don’t apply to humans, the Bible God’s "word" can’t be taken seriously.

The only way to avoid a failed prophecy is to deny that the prophecy meant what it said in the first place, which is exactly what Christians do.

Ironically, Jesus, who Christians advertise as "the Prince of Peace", and who called himself the "Son of Man" is precisely the type of character God warned people about in the Old Testament:

Psa 146:3-4
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

How true! The plans of Jesus (who called himself the Son of Man) to make a prompt return came to nothing after he died.

Will christians do as I’ve detailed and simply say that the words ’soon’, ‘this generation’, etc. and so on, really meant something else?

Or will you christians finally realise the stark reality that Jesus certainly stated he’d return in his disciples’ lifetimes, their generation and failed to do so?
There is no denying what Jesus said in this verse:

Matt 16:27-28
"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom."

Failed^^ prophecy…
EDIT: LOL!
Listen to the few of you (after I already said you would) commit verbicide.

Of course ’soon’ meant ’soon’.

Face it…he either was mistaken or just plain lied.
EDIT@Lion. This is why you fail:
At the time 2 Peter 3 was written, people were seriously questioning the teaching that Jesus would return quickly. Unless the followers were given some explanation for the failure of a quick return, they might stop believing and look at other belief systems instead. 2 Peter 3 was written primarily as damage control. It redefined "time" to explain away the lack of a quick return and cast a poor light on any who questioned and doubted what they had been taught. And one should not forget what the author of 1 Peter 4 had previously said:

1 Peter 4:7
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

If the end of ALL things was near according to 1 Peter 4, why does it become uncertain in 2 Peter 3? This is supposed to be the word of God, not a pulp fiction mystery novel.
EDIT@Bear: This is why you fail:
Jesus in John 11:9 defined daylight as having 12 hours, with night having the other 12 hours. Genesis 1:3 states that a day was divided into these two sections. God commanded that the seventh day be set aside for him and that no work be done on the Sabbath. If God is on a different timetable than a 24 hour day, then how long should a person observe the Sabbath? How many hours should comprise a Sabbath if it is not the same as a day?

If God is spiritual and cannot be brought down to our level then the Bible is an incomplete representation of his "word" since it cannot by your definition properly reflect God in the first place.
In the Book of Revelation, it is once again clearly indicated that Jesus would return [soon].

Rev 1:1
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must [shortly come to pass]; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

Rev 3:11
Behold, I come [quickly]: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Rev 22:6
And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must [shortly be done].

Rev 22:7
Behold, I come [quickly]: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

Rev 22:10
And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for [the time is at hand].

Rev 22:12
And, behold, [I come quickly]; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
Rev 22:20
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

"Quickly" is not 1,900+ years after the promise is made. No amount of hype, spin, rationalizing, or wishful thinking can make these verses say anything other than what they clearly state.

Jesus was to come back soon but never did.
@dartagnon. Lol. I’m atheist.

Many good points that will all be for nothing. Christians will never admit that they are wrong or that their scripture are flawed. Jesus said that some there "would not taste death, before his return". Looks like they died to me. Or they are like 2000 years old and hiding.

The Gospels were written well after the disciples were dead. If this had been the meaning of His words, I highly doubt the Gospel writers would have copied that down. It would have made the exercise quite pointless.

Jesus lied about a lot of things.

1) And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen. "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS)

2) Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8 NAB)

3) Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst. (Matthew 18:19-20 NAS)

4) Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him. Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. (Mark 11:24-25 NAB)

5) And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:9-13 NAB)

6) And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14 NAB)

7) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. (John 15:7 NAB)

8) It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. (John 15:16 NAB)

9) On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. (John 16:23-24 NAB)

Jesus has not failed to do anything.
Thomas H | Feb 06, 2010

Soon, as in later on. Don’t take it so literally. We all will never know when Christ comes, it could be tomorrow, in a few years, we never know until he does come. He will not fail to come to earth again, he promised each and every one of us he would come back.
mistywolfgal | Feb 06, 2010

You have free will, you can perish with this old system of things if you don’t want to believe and slander God and his Son. That’s your choice. The prophesies of Matthew needed to be fulfilled first which included the preaching of the good news of God’s kingdom to every people, nation, and tongue FIRST, before the end would come. You need to read and understand everything before drawing conclusions. And the prophesies of the end time need to be fulfilled as well. Jesus can return anytime soon now, within our lifetime if we don’t have a premature death.

In 2 Peter chapter 3, revealing insights into the nature of God are given. God isn’t bound to, constricted by, or held to human time. God created time, God is outside of time. For a God who has existed forever, what is "soon"? A million years, maybe. 2 Peter says that a day is like a 1000 years to God, and a 1000 years is like a day. So, theoretically speaking, it hasn’t even been a week since Jesus left.

Jesus never misled us. Soon in his terms may not be soon in ours. That isn’t misleading. He gave us the signs to watch for. Those signs weren’t around until the last decade. ALL the signs needed to be fulfilled to see his coming. Many have been fulfilled. The next sign will be the rapture, then the Tribulation Period and THEN the return of Christ.
Rene O | Feb 06, 2010

Soon, is probably better translated as "quickly" or "suddenly."

Further, when you are Lord of all eternity, "soon" means something very different than it might mean for us.
scotgirl60 | Feb 06, 2010

It also says in the Bible, "With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."

Basically to sum that up: God is not bound by time.
So trying to disprove the Bible based on time is out of the question.
Bear | Feb 06, 2010

Jesus was resurrected 3 days later. He is coming again, but taking His time so that more of us will be saved.
lois b | Feb 06, 2010

You are so wrong…
1. He did not say He would return ALL THROUGHOUT THE NEW TESTAMENT.

2.He did RETURN AFTER HE DIED. He walked through the cemetery with Mary and spoke with her. He visited His disciples in a closed room and even let one touch his wounds. He barbecued fish on the beach one early morning for some of his men who had been out fishing all night.

And promised to return….which He will when the father sends Him.!

Not to mention He is alive in every one of his believers.
vauxchic | Feb 06, 2010

Psalms 146:3 refers to the physical sons of Adam. Jesus was not a physical descendant of Adam, but of God.

Reply: Jesus said of his return "But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." in Matthew 24:36. That means you can’t rightly base your argument off of an unspecified date of return. If you want to pretend that your version of "quickly" is the right one, go ahead, just don’t try to make a scholarly argument out of it. Both Psalms 90:4 and 2 Peter 3:8 indicate that "soon" can indicate a thousand years or more, to him who is faithful to believe it, of course. But to the fool such as yourself, of course not. But contextually the thousand year view of soon is unnecessary, since any given person would have to wait only the span of their life, until they would be woken up to judgment.
jweston2 | Feb 06, 2010

Well, its been more than 2000 years since Jesus died. That is NOTHING in the Universal Time Scale. What? A mere minute probably. So yeah, pretty soon to God.
C. Lea | Feb 06, 2010

I used to totally agree with you until I ran into a website that has this rare letter written from a grandfather, who served with George Washington at Valley Forge, to his grandson, which told of a vision that foretold the future of the USA. It explains how everyone will be totally overrun and, with the end imminent, the people of the USA try one last effort to save themselves. It’s really a great letter.

If you go to the website and go to the very top of the page and look for the small print, you’ll find it!

There will be a New Coming … not sure WHO it will be at this time … might be the Creator … or Jesus … Or St. Germain for that matter. But, yes, someone is coming! It’s all right there in the letter that was published back in 1880.

It seems that you too are a Christian since you are under the illusion that Jesus Christ actually existed. If you look at the history books, not the Bible, you will find that there was only ONE person who actually detailed the existence of Christ. He was later found to be fraudulent. So you see, there is NO proof, other than the Bible which is basically a fairy tale code book designed to instill love and happiness in those who read it. A depression panacea perhaps.

Do people take the words of Hans Christian Anderson as being truthful? Are Grimms Fairy Tales the Truth? Then WHY do you give so much credibility for the Bible as being the foundation of history?

The Bible paints a vision of the Perfect Being. Follow HIM and your life will be perfect! Look at all of these things YOU can create just by believing. Live LOVE!

It’s all TRUE but it is presented as a fairy tale just as Goldie Lockes should not be going into a strangers house and stealing their food off the table. All of these things are written to teach us LESSONS but you should not take them as God’s Honest Truth … they’re not.

Peace

first of all, what is your definition of soon? is it one day? two days? three days? what is your criteria for when soon is? secondly, he is coming much sooner than he died the first time. The first time, Jesus didn’t come for almost 3,850 years. Meaning, creation came and went, and 3,850 years later, Jesus was born. So, Jesus will be returning soon, much sooner than 3,850 years. Jesus will return in the year 2,150 CE. see my blog i wrote for more details: http://nazarenespace.ning.com/profiles/b logs/i-am-predicting-not

Adventures of Power (2008)

IMDB rating: 7.60

Plot: ADVENTURES OF POWER is an epic comedy about a mine-worker named Power whose love of drums and lack of musical skill has turned him into the ridiculed “air drummer” of his small town. But when Power’s union-leader father calls a strike at the mine, Power discovers an underground subculture of air-drummers who just might hold the key to changing the world. Power’s journey across America brings him face-to-face with his town’s greatest enemy, and allows him to discover the beat within his own heart.

Hey, what is this movie?
Its about a kid that gets some kind of box or present, and then when he crosses it, he becomes a cartoon character. He then embarks in a cartoon type adventure (I remember him taking like a little pedal-powered car, and being stopped by a cartoon cop for speeding), and then he eventually comes back out to the real, and the present goes away to someone else… (Coolest part back then was him stepping partly cartoon and part human through the portal thingy).

Sorry, sounds like a bad trip, but it really was a movie in the early 80s (late 70s?)
